How to yawn

There are several agreed upon causes for yawning, however. First, it that when changing elevation rapidly as in an airplane, you will both voluntarily (on purpose) yawn and also involuntarily (not on purpose) yawn to try and equalize pressures within your ear. This works and is an accepted reason for yawning. Tighten the muscles at the back of your throat. These muscles naturally contract a little when you yawn. Contracting them now may stimulate your body to form a real yawn. Your brain will connect the feeling of these muscles contracting with the act of yawning. Yawning is a good thing. It's one way we can keep the brain awake and alert. But, there are definitely times when an unexpected yawn can be embarrassing.

When your brain is heated you tend to yawn. Chilled foods can help to bring down your body's temperature. Fruits, veggies, yogurts and cheeses that are cold can suppress your yawning tendency. Avoid ice creams or foods that are high in sugar as it can lead to excessive yawning. Excessive yawning may be a sign of stress and anxiety, leading to an incomplete yawn in conjunction with an unconscious inability to let go. If you are stressed or anxious, you will not fully relax and achieve this full muscle stretch, which will make you feel angry or dissatisfied with yawning.
